Drug Den, Beanibazar College Closes Again Until October 2022

Beanibazar Govt. CollegeEight students, from Beanibazar Govt. College, have been arrested by the police after they were found smoking Ganja, Cocaine and Marijuana on college campus. These arrest have lead to the discovery of a Drugs Ring operated from the college campus then supplying the greater Sylhet District in the outskirts of the town on the Bengaluru-Anekal Road. Two of the eight had taken two apartments on rent and were using them as dens to get students to smoke there and to sell drugs.
On credible information from a source, a team of policemen raided both their flats and arrested them, and an SUV parked in the basement was also seized.
The owners of the flats have also been booked for allowing illegal activities in their flats. A search is on for the accused who were supplying ganja. Cases have been registered against a total of 11 accused under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.
Search and arrests
The search and arrests were made between 4pm on Monday, March 28, 2022 till 2 am in the wee hours of Tuesday. The jurisdictional police, while on patrolling duty, were tipped off about the sale of ganja to students in flat number 708 located in the 7th block of the apartment complex. The police were also informed that students were given space in the same flats to smoke up. The police then informed their superiors about the tip off and obtained permission to search the premises. This then was then followed up by a police raid at Beanibazar Govt College. The police team headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) went to the said College and forcibly gained entry inside.

“We found four students in the College's Science Department Laboratory cooking up more drugs for distribution, of the four students, three were smoking ganja. The students are from Haryana, Jharkhand and Kerala. We recovered nearly 33050 grams of ganja from the College campus.
The student who was not smoking is alleged to have been supplying drugs to the other students he has been identified as Tony the gang leader rom Gram Balinga" said an officer who is investigating the case.
All his clients were students, of Beanibazar Govt College.
Along with the eight students, cases have been registered against Tony and the owners of the two flats. The police have recovered nearly 850 grams of ganja and have also seized the SUV. All the students and the two owners are booked under the NDPS Act.
The Beanibazar police of Syhet district have registered a case and further investigations are ongoing, therefore the college will remain closed until October 12th 2022.
